Why I Left Corporate Work 5 Years Ago
Five years ago, I made the bold decision to leave the corporate world behind. At the time, my job was stable, my career path clear, and my future seemingly secure. But deep down, I felt a nagging sense of dissatisfaction. The monotony of similar projects, the rigid structure of financial services, and the lack of personal fulfillment were taking a toll on me. I realized I needed a change—a chance to find purpose and joy in what I do every day.
What I Love About Running Clear Horizon Ops
Today, I run Clear Horizon Ops, a consulting firm specializing in operations management and strategic planning. It's a venture that has not only allowed me to rediscover my passion but also to foster a sense of purpose in my professional life. Every project undertaken is an opportunity to make a tangible difference for my clients. Whether it's streamlining processes, optimizing resources, or developing innovative solutions, the work I do at Clear Horizon Ops is both challenging and immensely rewarding.
What I particularly love about this role is the direct impact I have on helping businesses thrive. Unlike the corporate environment, where individual contributions can sometimes feel diluted, consulting work offers me the chance to see the results of my efforts firsthand. Each successful project feels like a personal victory, and that sense of accomplishment is unparalleled.
What I've Gained from the Flexibility of Consulting Work
One of the most significant benefits I've gained from consulting work is flexibility. Gone are the days of rigid 9-to-5 schedules and endless meetings that seem to accomplish little. Instead, I have the freedom to structure my day in a way that maximizes productivity and aligns with my personal life. This flexibility has allowed me to achieve a better work-life balance, something I struggled with in the corporate world.
Last week, I proudly completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training. You might wonder, "Another business?" Yes, indeed! I have discovered balance both on the mat and off, through the practice of yoga. This transformative journey inspired me to help others find their equilibrium and inner peace as well. I am excited to share my knowledge and passion for yoga, guiding others toward a more harmonious and healthy lifestyle.
Five years ago, I couldn't have managed this while balancing my family and job. Today, I have that flexibility.
What Do You Love About What You Do?
In summary, finding purpose and fulfillment in my daily tasks has transformed my professional life. Leaving the corporate world was a leap of faith, but it led me to a career that I love and that brings out the best in me.
Now, I turn the question to you—what do you love about what you do? Whether it's the sense of achievement, the people you work with, or the flexibility your role offers, I'd love to hear your stories and experiences. Share your thoughts in the comments!
